Peer Enquiry

Peer Enquiry

A school can commission a peer enquiry upon request, whereupon a team of three headteachers and senior school leaders from across Local Authorities will visit the school for two days. The enquiry team will work closely with the commissioning school’s headteacher and senior leadership team to explore practice and provision in a spirit of trust and transparency. The lead enquirer will present the school with a report that celebrates effective practice and opens up lines of further enquiry linked directly to aspects of school improvement that the school may wish to consider. Almost half the schools in CSC have been involved in Peer Enquiry to date.

What next?

In 2018/19, we will work on developing the model so that it becomes truly school-led and managed. We will also consider how the model might be applied to other areas of school improvement including departmental peer enquires. This Peer Enquiry Model will also underpin the support and challenge models that Welsh medium secondary schools and the special schools/PRU will pilot in the 2018/19 academic year. We will share the learning from the pilot to inform the development of the school-led improvement model in the region.
